Sent out a small survey to our TCT energy group members today to discover what people want to learn and do across the various renewables technologies and also what people already have installed. Hope we get a good percentage returned as this will govern what visits, talks and presentations we will arrange in the coming months.

We held the first AGM of Trawsnewid Calon Teifi in Pentrecwrt Village Hall this afternoon. There was a good turnout of around 40 members and we were able to run through the agenda within a reasonable time. I presented the past year review and plans for the next year for the Energy Group. This covered the plans for an Archimedes screw turbine on the River Teifi at Allt-y-Cafan Mill, support for small scale on-farm anaerobic digesters and some two dozen or so householders wanting advice on specific domestic renewable projects.  We also plan to develop the Energy Descent Action Plan for our area.

Our transition group is hosting a viewing of The Age of Stupid in Ysgol Gufun Emlyn – Newcastle Emlyn School – at 6pm this evening. Free entry and light refreshments available. I’ve watched this movie a couple of times now and have rather mixed feelings about it.  It’s a good concept but I feel the execution leaves a little to be desired. Overall it is a bit too long and on checking a few of the deleted scenes that are on the DVD they should perhaps have been included in place of some of the other scenes – especially the parts showing Fernand Pareau with his great-grandsons which I found extremely powerful.
