Croeso – welcome to Caer Delyn which is our 18 acre smallholding in the heart of the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside in West Wales.
With our woodland walks, meadows and streams to explore it is an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday or short break. We are just a few miles from the Brechfa Forest and Cambrian Mountains. The west and south coasts are both within 20 miles with superb beaches and wildlife. Red kites circle above our heads. Dolphins and seals are regular visitors to Cardigan Bay and there are several boat trips to get you closer to them.
Ruined castles are almost too numerous to mention: Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr, Dryslwyn, Kidwelly, Laugharne and (our own favourite) Llansteffan are all worthy of a visit. We have two steam railways both within 10 miles and the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney are less than 20 miles away.
We have 4 individual bedrooms available, 1 with a double bed and 3 singles. Each room has its own en-suite shower room, with WC and hand-basin and also a self-contained kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. Bed linen is provided but please bring your own towels. Luxurious under-floor heating is installed in all rooms.
There is a large communal room with oak beamed ceiling, pool table and a laundry/utility room. Wi-fi broadband access is available in most rooms on request.
We are a working small-holding with sheep, lambs, pigs and chickens – depending on the time of the year.
Our holiday accommodation has been audited and accepted into the Green Dragon scheme, at Level 2. We have also received grants from Green Dragon to enable us to implement some of the innovative environmental ideas that we find so important. Find out more on our Environment page.
We also have a separate self-contained flat with double-bed, lounge/kitchen, and shower/WC available.
Check our Places page for many more ideas of places to visit and things to do.
Caer Delyn means ‘fort of the harp’ – although it possibly originated as caèr delyn meaning ‘harp field’ as our lower field is roughly the shape of a Welsh harp – but this seems to have changed over the years. You can find out more about the meaning of Welsh words commonly used in nearby place names.
